The short version: your detailed Screen Time data stays on your iPhone. If you turn on Sync across devices, only a limited set of derived reward and focus numbers sync through your private iCloud database.

FocusFirst helps you put focus first, then enjoy the apps you choose. This policy explains what information the app uses and where it stays.
1. Screen Time data stays on device
- FocusFirst uses Apple's Screen Time, Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings APIs to help block distractions and measure focus progress.
- Your Screen Time history, app names, website names, selected app/category/domain tokens, and rule contents stay on your device. FocusFirst does not send this information to our servers, PostHog, or iCloud.
- This data is used for app features such as blocking selected apps, tracking progress, and calculating rewards.
- If you enable Sync across devices, only the derived numbers described below sync through your private iCloud database.
2. Optional iCloud Sync
Sync across devices is off by default. If you turn it on, FocusFirst syncs only derived reward and focus numbers through your private iCloud database. These include focus minutes by day, minutes earned and spent, reward balance, daily focus goal, focus score, streak, and the daily reward marker needed to keep participating devices aligned.
FocusFirst does not sync app names, website names, Screen Time history, detailed usage records, selected app/category/domain tokens, rule contents, or Screen Time permission settings. Apple stores this data under your Apple Account. FocusFirst does not operate a server for this sync and cannot access your private iCloud database.
You can turn Sync across devices off at any time in FocusFirst settings. You can manage or delete the app's iCloud data through your device's iCloud storage settings.
3. Permissions
- FocusFirst only accesses Screen Time features after you grant permission through Apple's permission screens.
- You can change or revoke Screen Time permissions in your device settings.
- FocusFirst does not require an account or an email address to use the app.
4. Product analytics
FocusFirst uses PostHog for limited product analytics so we can understand what is working and improve the app. This is separate from Screen Time data.
- Analytics may help us understand onboarding performance, paywall performance, purchases, daily retention, and feature usage.
- Analytics may include event names, timestamps, general device and app metadata, product or paywall metadata, and an anonymous persistent analytics identifier.
- Analytics may include count-only totals, such as how many apps were selected, but not the names of selected apps or websites.
- FocusFirst does not use analytics for advertising, retargeting, data brokers, or tracking you across other apps or websites.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
- We do not receive or store your payment card information.
- Subscription status may be verified through Apple's systems to unlock premium features.
6. Data sharing
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share Screen Time data with advertisers or analytics providers.
